SENATOR ABIRU INSPECTS ALTERNATIVE GIRLS’ SCHOOL IN IGBOGBO, PRAISES SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU’S INITIATIVE: Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has inspected the ongoing Alternative High School for Girls in Igbogbo, describing the project as a timely intervention that will restore hope and create a fresh pathway to education for girls whose academic journeys were interrupted by circumstances beyond their control. The school, being implemented under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is designed to combine formal education with vocational and life skills, giving young girls and women another opportunity to learn, grow, and become economically independent.
The senator commended H.E. Senator Oluremi Tinubu for what he described as a thoughtful and compassionate initiative, noting that the project goes beyond constructing a school. According to him, “it represents a second chance for girls affected by challenges such as financial hardship, early pregnancy, and other socio-economic circumstances.” Senator Abiru said the initiative reflects the First Lady’s deep commitment to the education and empowerment of the girl-child, adding that investments of this nature have the capacity to change not only individual lives but also families and entire communities. In his words, “I want to thank the Kabiyesi of Igbogbo for the prompt release of the land for the project and also the chairman of the council for the support for the project.” He also appealed to the residents to allow the contractor to deliver the project on time without hindrance and harassment. The contractor stated that the project should be completed in 4 months and listed the features of the classrooms, which include regular power supply powered by solar energy, computers and smart classrooms, and many other standard classroom amenities.
Accompanying Senator Abiru on the inspection was the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, alongside the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, and the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Comrade Japheth Odesanya. Also present were several APC leaders, prominent community leaders, and other stakeholders, whose presence underscored the importance the Igbogbo community and the larger Ikorodu Division attach to the project. The gathering reflected a shared belief that education remains one of the strongest tools for building a more secure and prosperous future.
In his remarks, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, thanked the president, H.E Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the unprecedented reforms and landmark projects being implemented in the country and, particularly, Lagos State. He also appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, H.E Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the support and many other laudable projects in Ikorodu. Senator Abiru, alongside traditional, political, and community leaders, drummed up massive support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and for all the aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu and across Lagos State.
